BUBBA BROWN THE SON I USED TO BE
* * * * * * * * *
Excellent vocals, a and a great Honky-tonk sound, must make this a sure-fire hit!!
LONNIE SPIKER I'VE GOT SOME HURTIN' TO DO
* * * * * * * * * *
I can sum up this, infectious, two step, in one word; SUPERB!!!
NIKKI GILLIS REMEMBER ME
* * * * * * * *
A good co-written song and very pleasing, mildly raspy, vocals!
DARNELL MILLER I WISH YOU HAD LIED
* * * * * * *
Solid country, breakup song, sung with plenty of feeling.
JEAN STAFFORD DON'T BET YOUR BOOTS
* * * * * * * *
A lively, self penned scorcher that is sure to fill the dance floors! This Aussie singer/songwriter has a good voice too!
MICHAEL FIX SOMETHINGS COOKING
* * * * * * *
Some very fancy pickin' on this very pleasing, self penned, guitar instrumental.
MARKUS MEIER MATILDA ROAD
* * * * * * * * * *
Keith Urban has some serious competition brewing in his native land, and Markus is one of them!! "Matilda Road" is an excellent country/rocker that, should do well for him!!
ANN PASCOE CRYIN' FOR THIER MAMA'S
* * * * * *
I first heard this excellent Wayne and Lee Kemp tune, by Texas "Indie" artist Jason Allen, and it would take something really special to beat that version. That said, this likeable Kiwi artist does a very creditable, female version of the song!!
TREVOR V STEVENS FIREMAN
* * * * * *
Trevor does a good cover of this old George Strait hit.
NELLIE DONOVAN SING ME AN ANGEL
* * * * * * *
Very pleasing Country/Blues tune, with some fine Hammond organ throughout the track. Good vocals too!
ROBERT MIZZELL DON'T WAKE ME UP TILL WE TOUCH DOWN IN SHANNON
* * * * * * * * *
Making what, I think is, his debut on Hillcrest, Robert choose's this very catchy Walter Cunningham penned tune that, I just can't get out of my head! Excellent!!
CLELIA ADAMS HALF AS MUCH
* * * * * *
Clelia does a good job of this much covered Hank Williams classic!
COWPOKE FOOL
* * * * *
There's a lot of talent coming out of Australia these days but, on this showing, Cowpoke didn't impress me very much. The too much, overdriven, guitar licks aren't needed and I'm sure they could have worked out an ending instead of the fade out.
MISS JEANNIE BLUE MONDAY
* * * * * * * *
Lovely Country/Jazz tune with some wonderful Clarinet licks. Nice vocals too!
