Barb Marchuk was born and raised in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. Her love affair with music began at the age of three when she started to play the piano. That love has led to countless performances in musical theatre, festivals and private functions.

Although inspired by artists such as Trisha Yearwood, Naomi and Wynona Judd, Barb has her own style in both song writing and singing. Her first self-written international release, "I'll Get Over You," (Reviewed on this site on Hillcrest #47 ) was in the Canadian charts four months in a row.

Barb Marchuk now get's her album debut with "Here I Am," produced by Mike Headrick at Universal Sound Studio's.

Barb get's this debut album underway with
"Here I Am," a powerful love ballad, that tells of learning to trust someone again after having your heart broke so many times with past relationships.

The tempo rises significantly for the lively toe tapper, "He Ain't You." Try keeping you feet still to this one.

"I'll Say Goodbye My Friend" is a poweful and moving ballad about saying a final goodbye to a loved one who has passed away, before the tempo is lifted again for the recent hit single, "Fine Tune." This is a very catchy song with some terriffic musicianship, that has already been played many times on Metro Country.

An expression of love for someone who is far away, is the theme for the ballad, "Hold Without A Touch." Co-written with S Mulgrew, the song has some nice touches of Dobro from Mike Headricks.

"Not Tonight Dear," I've got a headache! How many times have us men heard that one? Well in this fun song, Barb put's the blame firmly on her man for not turning her on. Another lively tune to get the feet tapping.

"What Must People Think" is a mid tempo tune, about just that. Wondering what other people think of the special relationship they have together.

Co-written with C Moch, "I'm So Good At Lovin' You" is another toe tapper, before two songs that tell of relationships gone wrong, "I'll Get Over You" and "The Nicest Thing," with the latter being another co-write with S Mulgrew.

Barb closes the album with a rendition of the gospel classic, "Amazing Grace."

I fell in love with Barb Marchuk's voice when I reviewed her single release on the Hillcrest label some months ago, so I was very much looking forward to reviewing this debut album from her, especially as it had been recorded under the production of the very talented Mike Headrick.

I wasn't dissapointed, this is an excellent album of all self penned songs, with an equal mix of Ballads and uptempo numbers. There is no doubt in my mind, Barb Marchuk is a very talented lady in both the singing, and songwriting departments, who deserves to go right to the very top.

Highly Recommended!!
