Brandi Ward
Window To My Soul |
|
Brandi was born - Brandi EIaine CIaire Ward - to John and Patti Ward in ManveI, Texas, a small town near Houston, on June 1st, 1983. She was the youngest of five children, and grew up with four older brothers. At the age of 10, she entered a talent competition in Wharton, Texas, and say's, "The judges told me they were impressed with my voice but not my choice of material so I was the runner-up. It was disappointing but I felt good the judges liked my voice."
By age 11 Brandi and her family moved to Needville, Texas where she
worked towards a career as a professional singer. One of her brothers
was a bullrider, and Brandi would sing live at many of his rodeo's.
Brandi lists her main influences as Reba McEnttire, Patsy Cline, Tammy Wynette, Garth Brooks, Jo Dee Messina, The Dixie Chicks, Terri Clark, Trisha Yearwood and Faith Hill
The album contains 13 tracks with 9 of them being written by Judy Redman.
Judy is responsible for the opening track, the rocking
"Crash Helmet" , while "Can't
Get Enough Of It" , from the pen of Burton Collins, is
a song I am sure was a recent hit for someone, but I can't just put
my finger on it. Other rockers on the album are "Give This Fool A Kiss" , "Girl Thang" , and "It's Time You Met My Mother" , from the pen of Judy Redman, and "Country Girl Is Gonna Rock and Roll" , a Marylin Oakley composition that closes the album. Brandi shows she can also handle the ballads, on Judy Redman compositions like, "The Fire" , "She Knows" , a song that tells of falling in love with someone again'st the advice of others and "That's What Love Can Be" , a song that sees her explaining the meaning of love. Other ballads on the album are "Puttin' On A Show", a nice song, from the pen of Tamara Smith, that tells of a couple no longer in love, but staying together for the sake of the kids - a very common story these day's - and "Window To My Soul" , written by Rhonda Stegent and Loreli Mulla. "In The Line Of Fire" is a country/pop tune that didn't really do a lot for me, while "Terms of My Surrender" is a catchy two Stepper that should see the dancers on the floor. This is a good album of modern country music from a talented young singer, who I am sure has a bright future ahead of her. Check It Out!!
