Hermann Lammers Meyer

Till The End Of Time

Hermann Lammers Meyer is one of Europe's top vocalist and steel guitarists and is also the leader of Germany's very popular "Emsland Hillbillies" group. He travelled to Nashville to record this, his third album as a vocalist, co-producer and songwriter where his fellow producer Jimmy Day provided the steel guitar work along with the Buddy Emmons. With those two steel guitar legends around it is no wonder that Hermman left the steel work to them.

Joining Hermann, Jimmy and Buddy for this album are a myriad of country music and Western Swing's greatest musicians. The Calloways are on background vocal and guest appearances are made by some of country music's legendary names. Former Cherokee Cowboys Pete Wade and Buddy Spicher supply some tremendous lead guitar and fiddle licks while Bunky Keels is on the ivories. Tommy Hill is heard on acoustic guitar, Nashville session player, Dave Smith, is on bass and Andy Peaks is on drums.

Of the generous fourteen tracks on here eight are Hermann Lammers Meyer originals. These include the excellent opener "Kleenex Teardrop Tissue" a great western/swing tune that I defy you to keep your feet still to. If western/swing is your thing, then take a listen also to the wonderful 5 mins 13 secs, Leon McAuliffe penned Instrumental, "What Made Bob Holler," "Cry Every Night" another H. L. M. original and the fast paced "Hell Or Houston" a previous hit for Spade Cooley many years ago.

Hermann is joined on vocals by Kitty Wells & husband Johnny Wright for a great version another western/swing tune, the classic "Hillbilly Fever" while Norma Jean is his duet partner for the two stepping title track "Till The End Of Time," "Ten Minute Romance" a waltz, and the albums closer, "Faith In Santa" a Christmas story song about a young child living on the streets after trouble at home. This is one of those songs that tug at the heart strings and is one that is sure to get some heavy play on Metro Country this Christmas.

Other H.L.M. originals on here are the slow "Together Alone," and "Honky Tonk Trail," a country shuffle of just over 5minutes that is sure to get the dancers on the floor, as well as the seasonal "Season To be Merry" and the very clever "My Life In Song" a song that mentions some of his influences in country music while also including musical interludes from some of their hits.

Other tracks on here include a good cover of Conway Twitty's "Too See An Angel Cry," and "Good Songs, Bad Songs" a waltz co-penned by Hermann with G Jansen.

I must admit that up until about 12 months ago, when I heard "I'll Be Home Soon" on an ECMA compilation CD, I had never before heard of Hermann Lamers Meyer. After playing the track to death on Metro Country, I received a couple of singles from Hermann which also impressed me very much, and which have also had plenty airplay on the show.

This latest release, "Till The End Of Time" is an excellent album that should be in every serious country music fans collection. The whole album is solid Country and contains some excellent self penned material from this very talented German singer/songwriter.

Sound like I 'm a fan?
You bet I am!!!!!!

Also well worth checking out are the singles "A Song For Sarah," and "She Dances Alone" both excellent Hermann Lammers Meyer originals.
