Karen O'Shea is a new, young Australian artist who has been singing from an early age. She graduated from the CMAA College Of Country Music in 1997. In 1999 Karen was selected as one of the most promising new artists when she became a Grand Finalist in the prestigious Tamworth Star Maker Awards, as she was again in 2000.

After winning the "International Frank Ifield Spur Award" for Best New Female Performer in 2001, Karen released a single to International radio via Stuart Cameron's highly successful 'Country Hotdisc.' The response to the single, "My Love Goes That Far," resulted in national TV appearances in Australia and widespread national and international radio airplay, reaching No 7 on the "European Country Music Top 40." Karen also recently won the coveted "Tiara Award" for "Best Female Vocal 2002" at Australia's premier Country Music festival, in Tamworth.

Karen cites her idols as Trisha Yearwood and Martina McBride and it shows in her musical style. In fact, listening to this album, I would go so far as to put Karen in the same class as the two Nashville stars, she is THAT GOOD!!!

Recently released to radio is "She Broke Your Heart," an absolute cracker of a song, that wouldn't sound out of place on a T.Y. album, although even the superstar herself couldn't improve on the performance here. I feel sure this release will see Karen better her #7 position in the European charts with the aforementioned debut release, "My Love Goes That Far," which is also included on this album.

Another track that must be a contender for future release as a single, is the albums opener, "Just A Little Bit More" a catchy song that is sure to have you singing along in no time, while Karen shows she can also handle the ballads just as well, on songs like the tender, "Prayers For You" and "Hold Me Like A Lover." Wonderful!!

One or two of the songs on here are a little too pop for me, but given her young age and the audience she is no doubt aiming at, that is only to be expected. I recently listened to Trisha Yearwood's latest CD and found it extremely disappointing, with absolutely NO country content on there at all. At least Karen retains that country feel on an album that is sure to satisfy all persuasions.

With her wonderful, goose bump inducing voice and the strong material on here, sheer talent alone should ensure that Karen enjoys much success, but add to that her stunning good looks and she can't fail.

Karen is currently being promoted by the legendary Frank Ifield, who recently told me that there may be the possibility of her visiting the U.K. in 2003, if there is a good enough response to the album. So what are you waiting for, get out there and buy it!!!
