The Question
The Night A Country Star Was Born
Texas

Lamar Morris had a few single releases for MGM and ABC Paramount between 1965 & 1972 but then stopped recording and went on the road with Hank Williams Jr for 20 years. He's now a partner in his own recording company and feels the time is right to release an album. And what an album it is!!!

Don't expect any hard rockin' Hank Jr style country here, the emphasis is very definitely on traditional, with 11 of the 12 tracks either self or co-penned by Lamar. The album opens with "Texas," an excellent western/swing tune, that reached #2 in the EMS European charts after it's release via the Hotdisc in November 2000. Lamar followed this up by releasing the only song on the album he didn't write, "The Night a Country Star Was Born" a very catchy two stepper written about Hank Williams Snr that went all the way to #1.

7 out of the 12 tracks on the album are ballad's, with the best of these being "The Question," a teriffic co-write with business partner Wes Laird, that sounds like it's just come off a Ray Price album. Another that stands out is, "I'll Let You Go Now," a telephone conversation with an estranged partner also co-penned with Wes Laird. On the livelier side is "Why Do I Want Out," a catchy two stepper about trying to get out of a relationship he never got into and the Tex-Mex flavoured "Tijuana Sunrise," while the neares t Lamar comes to rockin' it up is via the honky tonker, "Cheap And Used."

It may have taken a long time to record, but it was well worth the wait! Excellent!!!
