Josie Waverly

Josie Waverly is a new name that has recently come my way. Already an established performer she has shared the stage with the likes of Tim McGraw, Sawyer Brown and Charlie Daniels. Josie Waverly comes from Rochester, New York, where she has opened "Josie's Country Jukebox", a country music dance club and restaurant.

New York State is not by any means a notable epicentre of country music and this is aptly reflected in the style of music that is heavily featured throughout a greater proportion of this album. Falling very much into the current category of Nashville Pop with a traditional country music underpinning of fiddle and steel backing, this self-titled CD, will ideally draw the attention of the country music modernist.

Josie Waverly has a sensational voice and a wide vocal range that she uses to considerable effect. Setting off at a fast pulse, "Bad Dog No Biscuit" sees Waverly performing with plenty of attitude on this fun song. Josie Waverly can also handle the big production ballads to perfection, as she proves on several occasions with; "I'll Get Back To You", "Starting Now", "Who Cries This Time" and "Believe In Me".

A great story song comes with "Jessie Didn't Have A Thing On You" (which reminds me a little of Linda Davis's "Company Time"). More sassy numbers come with Loretta Lynn's "Don't Come Home A Drinking" and Lou T. Josie's "Bad Whiskey". Josie Waverly is a force to watch for. With a voice like her's, somebody is going to take this bright vocalist to higher things; it's just a matter of time!!!
