Nashville, TN (March 24, 2011 ) -- Grammy-nominated bluegrass band The Grascals pay tribute to one of America's most-beloved television programs, The Andy Griffith Show, with the release their newest disc, DANCE 'TIL YOUR STOCKINGS ARE HOT AND RAVELIN' (A Tribute To The Music of the Andy Griffith Show). Available digitally via BluGrascal Records/Saguaro Road Records on March 29 and via CD on June 7, the seven-song EP features tunes that were an integral and humorous part of the show's eight-year run. The disc's release coincides with The Andy Griffith Show's celebration of its 50th anniversary.

DANCE includes one original song written and recorded in the spirit of the sweetly-comical series, "Boy, Giraffes Are Selfish," alongside iconic tracks such as "Dooley," "Boil Them Cabbage Down," "Stay All Night (Stay A Little Longer)," "Ol' Joe Clark," "Leaning On The Everlasting Arms" and "Mayberry's Finest Theme."

THE GRASCALS' guitarist, Terry Eldredge, is a longtime fan of the show and confesses to have seen each episode numerous times. "The Andy Griffith Show had a moral lesson that every human being should live by," Eldredge comments. "It's an honor and privilege to be associated with the best TV show ever made. It was - and still is - awesome family entertainment."

"The Andy Griffith show, The Grascals, and Bluegrass music is a quintessential American combination and The Grascals have given us another great listen," says Saguaro Road / Time Life Senior VP Retail Mike Jason.

The Grascals launched their career in 2004, and have become one of the most-lauded Bluegrass bands of their era. Accolades abound and include: SPBGMA's 2011 Instrumental Group of the Year, SPBGMA's 2010 Bluegrass Band of the Year, SPBGMA's 2009 Album of the Year and IBMA's (2007, 2006) Entertainer of the Year. The band's unique sound has also earned two of their previous releases (THE GRASCALS and LONG LIST OF HEARTACHES) Grammy® nominations in 2005 and 2006, respectively.

RICHARD LINDGREN
MEMENTO - BEST OF + RARE AND UNRELEASED TRACKS 1994-2010
A 3CD box set. 46 songs, 22 previously unreleased. Booklet with Richards Lindgren’s own recollections of the songs and recordings.

Liner notes by Mary Gauthier.

Swedish release April 6, 2011

“They say there is no one more honest than a dying man, and Richard Lindgren sings and writes like a dying man. He creates music like someone who has nothing to lose. His songs are honest, raw, real. It’s like he is talking to me in confidence, singing personally to me his hearts’ secrets.

I remember the first time I heard the music of Richard Lindgren. His songs grabbed me immediately, making it impossible for me to turn his music off. I simply HAD to hear the next song, then the next one. I forgot about what I was supposed to be doing next. I just sat there listening, and a smile broke across my face because against the odds, I’d found a new artist to love.

As song after song went by and held my attention, I felt my heart open, time went away, and Richard Lindgren sang me back to my love of the art, the craft, and the magic of the troubadour-back to that jaw dropping place where the mystery of the creator is embedded in the creation of a human being. As I listened to Richard sing I remembered, once more, the power of song.

I’ve always felt there is an unspoken contract between the writer and the listener, an agreement. It goes like this—as a listener, when I give music my attention, I expect the songwriter to give me something back in return, something as valuable to me as my time, something I can believe in and love. I want the songwriter to have done the time-consuming and brutal work of finding the truth inside them before singing their songs to me. What I require before I can let a new artist in is trustworthiness. The inversion is true as well, as a songwriter and a singer, I honor the trust an audience puts in me, and as Dylan once said, I must know my song well before I start singing.

From my first listen, I believed the songs of Richard Lindgren. I believed he was telling me the truth, that he was a trustworthy singer and writer. That he does it in ENGLISH, when his native tongue is Swedish, is astonishing to me. This is no small feat.

When Richard sings,“ Baby I don’t belong in this world anymore”, I feel it too. He is speaking my own life to me.

“I’m sorry baby, if you wasted love on me”, ahh, yes Richard, I know that one as well.

“I was born with my heart in a vice in the ripe of spring”. Amen brother, me too.

Richard Lindgren’s songs introduce me to pieces of myself that I didn’t have words for until he sang them. This is the best a songwriter can hope to give a listener, the most a songwriter can offer. It is a gift that helps us, the listeners, to remain conscious in this terrifying, heartbreaking, and breathtakingly beautiful world. Richard is a true artist, and I am a true fan. Listen to these songs with an open heart; they will not let you down.”

WISER TIME

BEGGARS AND THIEVES

Available from Wiser Time's online store.

A review written for the Folk & Acoustic Music Exchange by Mark S. Tucker progdawg@hotmail.com

It's been a while since I heard someone I thought followed on Bobby Whitlock's heels, but Carmen Sclafani has that flavor and drive. Beggars and Thieves was wisely designed to overwhelm the listener from the first flat minute and slide on into a mellower frame of mind. Love and Devotion starts building straight-out chords but catches fire as a piano ambles in, drums roll, and slide guitar greases the skids into a bayou-lit Southern rocker that keeps expanding. Ah, but then I glanced down the roster and discovered that someone was finally discovering Bad Company's Seagull. Yes indeedy, I knew I was in for a good time.

There's also more than a little Delaney and Bonnie here, some Randall Bramblett, and the good Lord only knows how many of the 70s rootsers that were around during the San Fran heyday. Sclafani sings, writes, and plays guitar but surrounds himself with a band long in the groove and as clabbered up with etouffee and dusty back roads as him. There's some boogie, some rock, folk, blues, and the guy can also slow-ass a song beautifully, as in Revolution 09, a swampily souled mello-funk cut overhung with weeping willows and mangroves lazing under balmy Florida skies; thus, whatever you might want in the genre is pretty much here. Don't ignore the early Faces side influences either, but, coming up the decades, there's some Hooters, Counting Crows, Timbuk 3, and a host of others as well.

This ain't yer country club swank-muzik, y'all, no, better you just haul out them suspendered blue jeans, a beat-down straw hat, and a pair of trusty clodhoppers, 'cause we're getting' down in the the dirt, Clem, and, after a hot day's back-breaking, you an me is gonna pass the jug and dance a hoot 'r two. No, no, no, fergit thet cocaine, son, reefer'll do ya jes' fine. Limber up, steal the Cheshire Cat's grin, and put your arm around Sweet Jezebel over there; time to have us a time.

JEFF TALMADGE
KIND OF EVERYTHING

Featured Artist-Tim O'Brien

# 37 AMA, #14 FAR, #4 Euro Americana, #1 Roots Music Report

Watch the Video for “Kind Of Everything” .

"It's a big country, the USA, and even just the state of Texas is big enough to produce songwriters of the quality of Jeff Talmadge who somehow manage to escape the attention of even quite avid fans like myself; makes you wonder how many more there are out there, one of whom might be just the songwriter you want within reach as you travel through life. Jeff Talmadge is that sort of writer; reflective and thoughtful, careful enough to tell a story in his own words and offer a personal perspective on the world around him....Another fine Texas songwriter."

AMY BLACK
ONE TIME
Amy Black Takes Her Shot With Sophomore Album One Time Juggling Success in the Business World with Following Her Dreams of Music

Available from March 29; Produced by Lorne Entress (Lori McKenna, Bittertown), Features Stuart Duncan on Fiddle and Mark Erelli on Vocals

Nashville, Tenn. – Singer/songwriter Amy Black releases her sophomore album entitled One Time today, March 29, 2011. After a decade of success in the business world, Black is taking a chance and following her music dreams with this new release. The rootsy collection of revealing and authentic tunes was recorded with producer, Lorne Entress (Lori McKenna, Bittertown). Available digitally, the album’s foundation is a traditional American roots sound but it’s not without a dash of rock and soul. “My goal was to create music that successfully merged the acoustic and electric instrumentation that I love,” says Black. “I tend to be drawn to a classic sound and paid my respects to some of the great music of the past when I wrote this album.”

Black worked with Entress to bring the perfect cast of characters together – top-notch musicians, including singer/songwriter Mark Erelli on vocals, guitar and lap steel and Nashville’s favorite fiddle player, Stuart Duncan. With Entress’ guidance the players have created a rich and compelling album. The music spotlights traditional roots instruments like Dobro, fiddle, mandolin, pedal steel and upright bass as well as the smooth and classic sounds of the electric guitar. “Making One Time was an incredible experience for me,” says Black. “As happy as I am to get the music out there, I’m also sad that the creation process is over. My favorite part of making this record was witnessing these incredible musicians doing what they do best. I can’t wait to get back in the studio with them again.”

In her debut album Amy Black & The Red Clay Rascals, Amy paid tribute to her favorite songwriters. With One Time, Amy’s powerful voice and presence are matched by the commanding range of her own song writing as seen in the nine originals on the album. The characters in “Molly” and “Whiskey And Wine” ache with bittersweet yearning in a world of pleasure and pain. “All My Love” simmers with seduction, while “Meet Me On The Dance Floor” is a flirty delight. “Stay”, featuring harmony vocals by Amy’s little sister Corrie Jones, swings with grown-up romance and “Run Johnny” crackles with bluesy menace.

“This album is really a tribute to my southern roots and is dedicated to my Granddad who grew up dirt poor in Alabama,” says Black. After putting himself through college, Black’s grandfather worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority for decades before pursuing his dream of starting his own business. This can-do tenacity along with a flare for storytelling, are traits passed along to Black. “He was a bit of a showman and I think I got that from him,” says Black. “He passed away during the production of the album and I’m proud to honor him with this music.”

In the album’s potent title track, "One Time," the plaintive lyric “Time for you to make a break/And show what you’re good for” could describe Black’s bold step with this new release. “I decided a few years back that it was now or never,” says Black. “I love music way too much to sit on the side lines. You only get one chance at this life, and I’m taking mine.”
