Born
in Eastern Washington to a musical family, Myra's only ambition in life
from a very early age was to be a singer. She grew up to be a very competent
horsewoman and competed in Barrel racing and local Rodeos, where she
would also sing in the intervals. Her dynamic singing and personality,
soon made her popular as an artist at Cattlemen's conventions and other
western events and won her the title of Miss Rodeo Washington, going
on to compete for Miss Rodeo America. She worked under the legendary Happy Shahan in Texas for two years and learnt that besides singing, you also had to entertain your audience, which she certainly did, and it also gained her acting awards and "Best Actress Award" in the Broadway play "Bye Bye Birdie" starring opposite Dick Gautier. Soon
the lure of Nashville took her to the home of country music where she
worked with great artists such as Charlie Pride, Buck Owens, Willie
Nelson, and also worked under the great producer Norro Wilson. Realising that the major record labels were very difficult to get contracts with, as many a budding artist has found to their cost, Myra decided to go to Montana and produce on an independent label. With a very understanding and supportive husband she now lives on a working horse ranch, with her two daughters, where she still sings and writes songs and has her own studio. 'Somebody
Loves You' is an album dedicated to her beloved mother and that is why
I think there are some religious tracks contained on it, but in my opinion
too many for a 10 track CD. Her good friend and songwriter, Kostas,
has written five of the songs and is obviously a great influence on
her career. "My
Turn To Forget" and that very popular song "Let's Put Love
Back To Work" are two excellent tracks in the honky tonk style
in which she excels. "Rollin' On Home For Christmas" is a
great western swing number one of my favourite forms of country music. Influences of artists like Patsy Cline, Tanya Tucker and Suzy Bogguss can be heard in her singing, but she still retains her own individual style and interpretation of the songs. I found this a very pleasant and easy to listen to album from a very talented lady.
